BOOKING YOUR SESSION
Once you are ready to book a session, my goal is to make the process as easy as possible! First you'll choose your session type, and then we will choose a date. A 50% retainer is due at this time to hold the date just for you. Then, the fun begins - choosing a location & wardrobe!
I will confirm the time that our session will be held closer to the date. My sessions are typically held 1-2 hours before sunset, with the exception of mini sessions which may be held at any time, and in home newborn sessions, which are timed with the best lighting inside your home.

What if my kids won't cooperate?
I've got all sorts of tricks up my sleeve to induce giggles! The kids run the show at my sessions, and I adjust as necessary based on their cues. Our session will be play based, incorporating games and movement and tickles and lots of hugs. The goal isn't to get a picture of everyone saying "cheese" for the camera (although an authentic moment of that is a bonus), but to capture those candid moments of your family interacting and engaging with each other so you never forget this season of life. But remember, if your youngest won't cooperate, or your teen is stone faced, that is an authentic glimpse at this moment in your families life. You will look back at those photos and laugh and reminisce about their personality that shines through the photographs.
And if all else fails, bribe them with chocolate, money or a toy ;)
Above all, I want each family to be happy with their photos. If your child absolutely will not co-operate (yes, it has happened), we will work together to find a solution.
Can I extend the session on the day of? Can I purchase more photos?
Yes and yes! I strive to capture an incredible range of photographs within a short time frame, but if we are having a blast and want to explore a new setting, I probably won't turn you down!
Purchasing additional photographs in addition to what is included in your package is always an option. Additional fees will apply.
Do you travel?
Travel is my passion. Exploring new destinations to photograph is a dream. Absolutely, yes! Connect with me and we can discuss logistics.
What kind of gear do you use?
I am a Canon lover! I have recently covered to mirrorless, so my camera may look small, but it is mighty! I use a range of lenses, but you will most commonly find my 85mm and 35mm on my Canon R6 body.
Do I have to order prints through you?
Nope! You will receive a release form allowing you to print photos at the location of your choosing. Keep in mind that prints from Big Box stores will not be the same quality as prints & canvas from professional printers. Issues with the color and quality are commonly found when ordering from Walmart, Costco, etc. Ordering through me guarantees you product quality, as I am able to customize and perfect each image according to the printing lab.
What should I wear & bring?
I get asked about this pretty regularly! Clients that invest in professional photos have them displayed on the walls of their home for years to come, so it is worth giving your outfit choices consideration. Here are a few tips to consider;
First, you should feel comfortable. Fall & winter evenings on Vancouver Island can be chilly, so dress in layers. A good set of thermals under the attire can be really helpful, especially for the little ones. Avoid jackets if at all possible. Crew necks are fine but avoid hoodies.
Group shots look great when everyone is wearing clothes that are a similar style and color pallet - but think coordinating rather than matching!
Avoid large logos, heavy branding and loud patterns. If in doubt, keep it simple.
Bring accessories! Hats & jean jackets are fun! Scarves, blankets, tutus... if you have something in mind, just ask me my thoughts! Accessories will help me get a more diverse selection of images.
If your child has a special lovey or doll, lets incorporate it in a few photos! It might just be the perfect thing to pull out towards the end if your child starts to get tired. The bond of a child and their special item is something that you will want to look back upon!
I would love to discuss styling further with you as we finesse details about your session!
Will you choose the location?
I have a variety of preferred locations within the Comox Valley & surrounding areas where the lighting & scenery are magical. Additionally, I live on acreage with the most incredible field of daisies in the spring & golden hour through tall grasses & evergreens in the evening. However, these photographs will tell YOUR story, so if there is a location that is special to you, please let me know. I will guide you to finding the best location for your photographs, but the choice is ultimately yours.
I can absolutely accommodate indoor photo sessions if you choose to have them in your home (this is especially common for lifestyle newborn photos).
